La optometría deportiva se basa en mejorar el rendimiento deportivo mediante el desarrollo de diferentes habilidades visuales. Las más importantes son el tiempo de reacción, coordinación ojo-mano y la agudeza visual dinámica, entre otras. Los objetivos de este trabajo de revisión bibliográfica son conocer las habilidades visuales y profundizar en los procedimientos que se emplean para evaluarlas en jugadores profesionales de tenis de mesa. Para su elaboración, se utilizaron múltiples bases de datos para llegar a unas conclusiones sólidas acerca de las capacidades visuales requeridas en los jugadores de ping pong. Estas son superiores a las de personas que no se dedican al deporte de manera profesional. Los procedimientos estudiados han sido acerca de la agudeza visual estática y dinámica, coordinación ojo-mano, velocidad y tiempo de reacción y estereopsis.
