Tres fueron las grandes conquistas de España en esta extrema América Meridional, á saber: la Conquista de Chile, la Con quista del Paraguay y Buenos Aires,*y en el medio, la Conquista del Tucuman. Estas tres conquistas moviéronse entre treinta y ci co grados de latitud austral, y entre veinte grados de Ion g¿:ud. Calculando pues astronómicamente su extension, las tres conquistas abarcaron setecientas leguas de norte al sur, y como seiscientas leguas de naciente á ponien_te. De donde se sigue, que el campo de las tres conquistas poco-se diferencia de toda Europa, no comprendiendo la Rusia.
